BURY THE UNFRUITFUL AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEW THINGS GOD HAS FOR YOU IN 2014

Beloved as the year 2013 comes to a close I think of Lot's wife who looked back at where she came from even though she was advised not to a turned into a pillar of stone.  Or take the example of the chosen ones rescued from slavery but still couldn't shake off the things of the past so could not embrace the future.  What do these two examples have in common?  Neither could turn their backs on the past. Certainly it is clearly an impossibility to look behind and forward at the same time.
The Apostle Paul uses the word forget (Phil. 3:13). He says to forget those things which are behind. To make one’s reflections on the past fruitful, forgetting must be thought of in two ways—positively and negatively. The thought here is to forget the things that are bad. Every person needs to forget the unpleasant and unhappy. Such experiences as defeat, disappointment, and guilt are things that should be forgotten. This can be done by an unconditional surrender to Jesus for forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 1:9).

My prayer for you beloved is that you would let go of the things of the past and walk into your NOW season fully prepared to meet the challenges of the New Day.  Have a Happy New Year.
