5. Only One Justice Away from Being French by A.W.R. Hawkins The more news coverage of the Supreme Court's "historic" decision upholding the Second Amendment I saw the more depressed I became. Though I'm grateful for the way the decision fell, I could not help being appalled by the fact that only 5 out of 9 justices now believe that the Constitution is constitutional. In short, the United States is only one liberal Supreme Court justice away from being judicially transformed into France.
4. DC Gun Ban Blown Away by Ted Nugent As I swab down one of my hundreds of privately owned, individually possessed firearms again this fine morning, I snicker and shake my head in disbelief that there are four "justices" on the "supreme" court that do not believe Americans have individual rights. Sure, I am somewhat pleased that we now have a SCOTUS confirmation of the self-evident truth and God given individual right to keep and bear arms, but the 5-4 ruling is another painful example, like Guantanamo and the decree against the death penalty for child rapist decisions that indicate a divisive culture war raging on, and four supreme justices frighteningly disconnected from the heart and soul of America.
3. The War Inside NBC by Jed Babbin The guest list for the funeral mass for "Meet the Press" anchor Tim Russert was an "A list" of politicians and media mentionables. Real reporters mixed with the television personalities and the network executives who control their lives. It was a black day for journalism in NBC: Russert's death released one of the last brakes slowing NBC's descent into political activism and journalistic irrelevance. (Continued Below)
2. Barack Obama's Veepstakes: A List of Possibles by Andrew Brandenburg With Sen. Barack Obama securing the Democratic presidential nomination next comes the veepstakes. Here are some of the top contenders for the second banana slot on the Obama ticket. Sen. Evan Bayh (Ind.) Bayh was the 13th most conservative Democratic senator in 2007, with a composite liberal score of 62.2, according to National Journal. Choosing a more conservative running mate may be what Obama needs to even out his track record. Obama's own composite liberal score of 95.5 made him 2007's most liberal senator.
1. HE Exclusive: Interview with Boris Johnson by Terry Easton Just 8 weeks ago, on May 2nd, Boris Johnson, the Conservative MP for Henley-on-Thames and former Editor of The Spectator, was elected by a huge 500,000 majority as the new Mayor of London.
